So what has her third month entailed? Well, Charlotte is three months old and already sporting stamps in her passport for one thing! How many three month olds have that under their belt? Not too many I’d think! She has been introduced to the cold of Kansas City (and the stuffy noses, coughing and sneezing that often accompanies the chilly weather!) as well as introduced to lots of family and friends. She’s even visited multiple States! Including Georgia, Kansas, Missouri and Iowa! She’s also gone from sleeping in Mommy and Daddy’s bed to sleeping not only in her own bed, but her own ROOM! She celebrated her first Christmas and rung in the New Year….and is meeting milestones left and right.
One would think all of this excitement would wear out our sweet girl and help her to sleep through the night. Well…that’s not exactly the case around here…yet. It could be partially due to the fact that we have been rushing around since we landed in Kansas on December 14. I think we are finally starting to settle into a routine, though I really need to figure this routine out. I’m not sure how it should look yet. Currently, Ben bathes Charlotte around 7:30-8pm, I feed Charlotte and then we rock her to sleep. (I’d like to work on her getting herself to sleep on her own….) Charlotte is not consistent in her sleep routine…some nights she will sleep until midnight and wake up to eat….then wake again around 2am and again around 4am and again at 6am. Other nights she will sleep until 4am…..and then again until 8 or 9am. I like those nights. Much better for Mommy and Daddy! But in Charlotte’s defense, she has had a cold since New Year’s eve and so she wakes up more frequently because of her congestion and coughing. Poor sweet baby.
As I mentioned before, Charlotte has done quite a bit of traveling…and met a LOT of people. Each meeting was so very sweet…here are some pictures of her meeting people for the first time:
Grandpa Craig was the first to hold Charlotte off the plane. She was styling in her KSU hat and Christmas pajamas!
Grandma Darcie reunited with Charly.
And of course Grandma Jill waited patiently for her turn!
Pam's turn came, but Charly wanted Mommy and her thumb....too much excitement at once!
Charly "meets" her own bed!
Uncle Patrick is the first Uncle to meet Charlotte!
Charlotte's meeting with Grandpa Larry was so sweet. He just came up to the couch and held her fingers, touched her head and she was like putty in his hands after that. He got her to sleep and laid her in her crib. She slept until 4am that first night home!
Great Grandma Carol Gentry! And Great Grandpa Howard Gentry (he was nervous to hold Charlotte)
Uncle Matthew FINALLY meets sweet Charly girl!
Uncle Nick!
And Uncle Chris- finished up his finals so he could get home quick to meet our little lady.
Great Grandpa Larry Connell- another precious meeting. Charlotte just stared up at his face and reached her hands up to touch his skin. So sweet.
Uncle Brock! Charlotte curled up in his arms shortly after they met and sucked her thumb...soon slipping into a deep slumber once again.
Our friends Wade and Kelley and their cutey, LB! (short for Linebacker!)
I felt so proud to show off our Charly girl. And so blessed to be able to do so. God is good.
Charlotte also had to bid some of these amazing people farewell…not everyone lives in Kansas after all. Though I will say we are trying hard to convince Uncle Brock to move BACK home to Kansas! Seattle is great, but it’s just not Kansas!
In the midst of all of the cleaning, organizing, Christmas celebrating, family visiting, etc…..I have seen my sweet Charlotte’s personality really starting to bloom. We are always amused by her vocalizations- coos, giggles, etc. Her newest talent is gargling phlegm ;) Charlotte is also interacting more with her toys, grabbing things and often bringing them to her mouth (teething is on the brink, we think!). She hasn’t quite rolled over yet, but that’s okay. She gets about halfway from her back to her tummy and then gets distracted by lights, TV, people, toys or her thumb. Short attention span, our sweet one! No worries though, she will get there before we know it!
